If you’re looking for a color palette that inspires joy at your wedding or event, select citrus colors. Citrus colors—oranges, pinks, yellows— bring about warm thoughts of sunshine and tropical paradise, no matter the season. To illustrate this, let’s take a look at a very special wedding styled-shoot we participated in, Citrus Blossom Wedding Inspiration.
Citrus is Ripe for Romance
Before we view more beautiful, citrus wedding inspiration photos shot by Meghan McCarthy Photography, it’s good to know a little bit about citrus. Citrus is a genus of flowering trees and shrubs in the rue family, Rutaceae. These plants produce citrus fruits, including oranges, lemons, grapefruits, pomelos, and limes. There are more than 100 varieties of citrus fruits. Oranges, tangerines, mandarins, lemons, limes, grapefruits and kumquats are among the most often used citrus in wedding decor.
Using citrus is an easy, affordable way to brighten up fall or winter wedding decor. And, although citrus is at peak season in the winter, citrus brings warmth to any table, especially in spring and summer months.
Citrus Wedding Inspiration Chi-Town Style
Cinthia Onines, lead wedding planner and owner of Chicago’s Savvy Rose Events, combined beautiful elements and talented vendors together to create an unforgettable wedding experience. The citrus inspired wedding palette reflected a range of citrus colors with personalized Fun to Eat Fruit mandarins taking the lead. To develop the couple’s custom monogram for the mandarins, Cinthia worked with Emery Ann Design, who created the invitation suite. If you look closely, you’ll see the same monogram on the invitation and enclosures.
Cinthia represented additional citrus colors by featuring poppies, garden roses, jasmine and flowering branches.Savvy Rose Event’s styled shoot took place at the Galleria Marchetti, a gorgeous venue in Downtown Chicago. From a couture wedding dress to monogrammed mandarins for favors, no detail was forgotten. This shoot included a stunning ceremony arch, an artistic cake inspired by glazed ceramic subway tiles—cracked and aged but not forgotten, a fully-styled farmhouse table in the reception space, and much more.
Fresh Citrus with Wedding Florals and More
By adding a few citrus fruits to your centerpieces, boutonnieres, aisle chair decor, you’ve taken something that is usual and customary and created visual excitement. Don’t forget to use citrus to decorate your wedding cake, garnish your plates and drinks, and give to your guests as favors.
