Making cakes for a living at Cuppies ‘n’ Cream means that I regularly have to bake for different types of diets and preferences. It can occasionally be quite challenging, especially when you don’t want to compromise on taste and it took me quite a few attempts to make the perfect gluten-free vanilla sponge. You may also like my recipe for gluten free chocolate chip cookies if you fancy something a bit sweeter…or need something to dunk in your cup of tea! 😉
Gluten free bread!
Bread is, in my opinion, far tricker to bake than cakes. I know some people out there bake their own bread all the time and I’m so jealous of that as it just doesn’t come as naturally to me as it does to others. Because I bake so much for other people, when it comes to baking for me and my family I tend to prefer to bake simple, quick traditional things. I was quite surprised to see that Panasonic published four delicious sounding gluten free bread recipes, each having around 4-5 steps in the methods AND can all be made in one of their nifty bread machines.
From gluten-free cinnamon fruit and raisin bread to a good old traditional gluten-free white bread, I think the recipes are varied enough to appeal to many – which one would you want to try?
Over the last few years I’ve had numerous people say to me “why haven’t you applied for bake-off yet?” and my answer is ‘because of bread’! I’d probably not take that well to being told off by Paul Hollywood either, but that’s a whole other blog post! 😉 I’d need to practice, practice and practice more to be comfortable with making it at that level.
What about a bread machine?
Sometimes I feel like that I’m the only person that doesn’t yet have a bread machine and I think that’s maybe where I’m going wrong. I was browsing the Panasonic website at their bread machines and then spotted one for sale on Amazon which has amazing reviews and I now really want to buy for my new kitchen (we move house soon).
Gluten free shouldn’t mean taste free – right?
The thought of waking up to fresh warm bread every morning ready to slather with butter and jam is just too much! I’m a total bread fiend.
