Blood and Ash and Flesh and Fire Book Series Fan Theory

Ok, I am OBSESSED with this book series. I have purchased them on audible and I’ve listened to all of them multiple times. They are so well written! This fan theory is for those who are caught up as of Jan 2024.

So here’s my theory:

Attes – Casteel
I think Attes is heart-mates with Sotoria and they had a child that Kolis killed. Attes has a deep scar across his face. Poppy has a deep scar across her face. Attes has dimples. Casteel has dimples. Attes named his horse Sette. Casteel also named his horse Sette. Attes also mentions to Sotoria while she is still trapped in Seraphena that he would save her this time. Attes’ animal form is a hawk and Poppy first meets Casteel as Hawke. Have you noticed that attes is always a little flirty with Seraphena staying naked and smirky as long as he can before covering up. Making sure Sotoria can get an eye full before clothing himself.

Eythos – Kieran

Since Eythos and Attes are best friends and they worked together to save Sotoria. I also think that Kieran is Eythos reincarnated. I think the last book is going to be al ot of reincarnations especially since Armentrout seemed to really enjoy revealing more and more about Poppy leveling her up until she at the end of the last book seem as though she was going to be the next queen of the gods.
Back to Kieran…Kolis shares a drink with Seraphena that his brother was known for making. Kieran is also known for making delicious drink mixes. Why else share that information if not to drop a little nugget of foreshadowing? I think Eythos and Attes were reincarnated at Casteel and Kieran.
Eythos transformed into a wolf Kieran is also a wolf. It would also explain their bond of friendship going deep and that their souls were intertwined and meant to be together. There are even more parallels. Kieran looses his love from a disease where as Eythos lost Mycella and had to continue on. It’s as if history is repeating itself until they get it right.

The Prophecy Broken Down

“From the desperation of golden crown and form of mortal flesh, a great Primal power rises as the heir to the lands and seas, to the skies and all the realms. A shadow in the ember, a light in the flame, to become a fire in the flesh.

*This to me is all about Poppy. She has a golden crown. Since she was once a soul held by Seraphena she was a shadow behind the embers. She talks about becoming the fire when she’s allowing Casteel to feed from her.

When the stars fall from the night, the great mountains crumble into the seas, and old bones raise their swords beside the gods, the false one will be stripped from glory …

*This to me seems to be what’s to come with Seraphena and how she and Ash will strip Kolis of his title and put him in the ground. She’s raised the bones of the dead according to the vision Poppy has.

until two born of the same misdeeds, born of the same great and Primal power in the mortal realm. A first daughter, with blood full of fire, fated for the once-promised King. And the second daughter, with blood full of ash and ice, the other half of the future King. Together, they will remake the realms as they usher in the end.

*The first daughter is clearly Millicent. If Milly is also reincarnated then I would assume she’s Anthea, Sotoria’s older sister. I also think that the reason the baby boy who would have been Poppy’s brother died is because Callum still lived. Poppy is fated to have only one brother. Malek is the once-promised king. The second daughter is Poppy and Casteel. Both daughters were born of the same great Primal power given their grandparents are Nyktos and Seraphena. As their father was Ires he contained that power in his blood.

And so it will begin with the last Chosen blood spilled, the great conspirator birthed from the flesh and fire of the Primals will awaken as the Harbinger and the Bringer of Death and Destruction to the lands gifted by the gods. Beware, for the end will come from the west to destroy the east and lay waste to all which lies between.”

*Some people think that Callum is the great conspirator. I’m not sure on that one. I think it could be Callum or Kolis. The last Chosen blood spilled was given to Kolis in a last-ditch effort to make sure he was well fed enough to be revived fully. The reason I think it’s Kolis is because his father was also a Primal and he was also born of the flesh and fire of the Primals. He is the one who will be awakened. So in my opinion Poppy is not the Harbinger and Bringer of Death and Destruction. Kolis however surely is. As he’s been awakened the ground has turned grey bringing back the rot. I also think that the end coming from the west to destroy the east is in relation to a new rot/Kolis coming from the human realm to try to destroy Illiseum. He did want to kill all of the Primals.

I’m still not sure what to think about Callum. I think he gave the start containing Sotoria’s soul to Isbeth, but I’m not sure how they ensured it was Poppy’s soul that entered the baby… Hopefully, Armentrout has a fun way of explaining that!
